“Before being believers, we are called to be human beings.” The words of Pope Leo XIV guide the main stage of the World Meeting on Human Fraternity, namely the Assembly of Humanity on September 13 at the Campidoglio in the Hall of the Horatii and Curiatii.

There can be no fraternity unless we redefine the concept of humanity in the face of the extremely difficult challenges of our time: humanitarian, climate, and political crises, wars, famines, and the digital revolution that we do not yet know how to manage. Nobel Peace Prize winners, leaders of international organizations, and protagonists of the global debate initiated a synodal process on the theme: “What does it mean to be human today?”, thanks also to the contribution of experts from other tables of the Meeting who were present at the Assembly.

The goal was to provide a framework for new interpretations and new awareness of the present, not just the future.
